Couples, Sex, and Relationship Counseling

What is Couples, Sex, and Relationship Counseling?

We recognize that people seeking relationship support do not reach out until things have reached a place of urgency, and we respect that this is one of the most personal aspects of a person’s life. Our office recognizes that romantic relationships take varying forms, including married or unmarried couples, polyamory and ethical non-monogamy (ENM).

What is your treatment approach to Couples, Sex, and Relationship Counseling?

Our clinicians use the Gottman Method, Adult Attachment Theory, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and the PLISSIT model for sex and relationship counseling needs. Our work addresses communication patterns, infidelity, relationships affected by mental health, impact of life stressors on relationships, and the impact of trauma in romantic connection.

Our clients additionally report benefiting greatly from our office’s use of integrated couples/individual therapy modality, administering tandem couples counseling and individual counseling among staff clinicians. Clients report the opportunity to process their thoughts about recent couples sessions as well as organizing their thoughts to approach difficult topics in couples sessions plays an invaluable role in establishing healthy communication patterns.

Our office has also found that people with partners unmotivated to participate in counseling report positive outcomes from individual services that focus on improving relationship skills.

What experience do you have treating couples, sex, and relationships?

Our team enjoys a strong reputation in the surrounding region for sex-positivity and working with matters pertaining to couples, sex, and relationships.

Our office is also very honored to have received so many LGBTQ referrals from previous clients over the years. We are grateful that LGBTQ persons have found our services to be worthy of such trust.
